The silicone rubber band crankcase heater is a surface-mounted low-temperature heat tracing element. The core is an insulating protective base material made of silicone rubber, with a built-in high-resistance heating core. It converts electrical energy into thermal energy to achieve low-power, constant-temperature, and uniform heating. This silicone rubber band heater is attached to the outer wall of the refrigeration compressor crankcase and continuously heats and insulates the refrigerating oil inside the crankcase, addressing the problem of freezing of refrigerating oil and migration of refrigerant liquid in the compressor caused by low temperatures at its root, ensuring the normal startup and stable operation of the compressor at low temperatures. The crankcase heater is the core protective component for the compressors of refrigeration equipment (air conditioners / refrigerators / freezers).
The normal operation of refrigeration compressors (used in air conditioners / cold storage / freezers) relies on the refrigerating oil in the crankcase for lubrication, sealing and cooling functions. However, the low-temperature environment directly damages the performance of the oil. All the working designs of the silicone rubber band crankcase heaters are centered around addressing this issue.
The core issue at low temperatures occurs when the compressor stops / the ambient temperature is extremely low (such as in outdoor areas during winter or in the refrigeration machine room, with a temperature of ≤ 0℃). The refrigerating oil in the crankcase becomes viscous and even solidifies due to the low temperature. At the same time, the liquid refrigerant in the refrigeration system migrates to the crankcase due to the density difference and mixes with the oil to form an "oil mixture". When the compressor starts up, the solidified oil cannot timely lubricate the bearings / crankshaft, which is likely to cause mechanical wear; while the liquid refrigerant is sucked into the cylinder, it will cause liquid impact, directly damaging the compressor valve plate, cylinder, and even resulting in the complete destruction of the machine.

The silicone rubber band crankcase heater is a multi-layer composite integrated structure. When powered on, the heating belt achieves efficient heating through Joule's law. Moreover, the characteristics of the silicone rubber base material enable uniform heat conduction without local overheating. The details are as follows:
1. Heating core: Contains nickel-chromium alloy / copper-nickel alloy heating wires (with high resistance characteristics). When powered on, the current passes through the high-resistance core to generate Joule heat (electric energy → heat energy), providing a continuous heat source for the heating strip;
2. Insulation protection layer: The core is wrapped with a high-temperature-resistant, waterproof, and anti-aging silicone rubber substrate (double-layer on the top and bottom), which not only ensures the uniform heat conduction but also isolates moisture, oil stains, and corrosion, suitable for outdoor / high-humidity working environments of compressors;
3. Fixing layer: Comes with matching fixing clips, which can be closely adhered to the metal outer wall of the crankcase, allowing the heat from the silicone rubber band crankcase heater to be directly transferred to the interior of the crankcase through heat conduction, with extremely low heat loss;
4. Wiring terminals: Sealed high-temperature-resistant wiring terminals, preventing leakage and short circuits, and compatible with the electrical safety standards of refrigeration equipment.
Product Function
The silicone rubber band crankcase heater operates at low power continuously (with power ranging from 20W to 150W, matched according to the compressor model), maintaining the temperature of the refrigerating oil in the crankcase within the optimal working range of 10℃ to 30℃:
--- Keeping the oil in good fluidity, enabling immediate full-area lubrication when the compressor starts and avoiding mechanical dry grinding;
--- Increasing the temperature inside the crankcase to form a temperature difference, preventing the liquid refrigerant from migrating to the crankcase, avoiding oil mixture and eliminating the risk of liquid impact;
--- Some intelligent models of the crankcase heater heating belt are equipped with a temperature control switch. Once the oil temperature reaches the standard, it automatically cuts off power, and starts automatically when the temperature is too low, achieving constant temperature insulation, energy saving, and consumption reduction.
Product Features
*** Flexible adhesion, high thermal conductivity: The silicone rubber has excellent flexibility and can closely adhere to the curved metal outer wall of the crankcase, achieving face-contact thermal conduction. There is no gap in heat transfer, and the heat loss is less than 5%, which is much higher than that of hard heating components with point/line contact.
*** Resistant to high and low temperatures, suitable for extreme environments: Silicone rubber can operate stably within the temperature range of **-40℃ to 200℃**. It can not only adapt to the low-temperature conditions in outdoor winter but also withstand the heating temperature of the heating band itself, without any phenomena such as hardening, cracking or melting.
*** Fully waterproof and anti-aging, suitable for high-humidity working conditions: The silicone rubber is a sealed insulating material, with a waterproof rating of up to IP65 or above. It can resist water vapor, condensate, oil stains, and minor corrosion in the compressor working environment, without any risk of leakage or short circuit, and has a long service life.
*** Lightweight and easy to install without affecting the compressor: The thickness of the silicone rubber band crankcase heater is only 1-3mm, which is very lightweight. The crankcase heater band is attached to the outer wall of the crankcase without additional weight, thus not affecting the shock absorption and operation of the compressor. Moreover, after installation, there are no protruding parts, making it suitable for the compact installation space of the equipment.
